An extremely professional job. We are highly satisfied. Thank you very much for everything.
We took on a very special job for the Reuterstadt Stavenhagen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern: the digitization of the scanned city coat of arms as a vectorized version. The city officials gave us the coat of arms as a scanned file. Some vector programs, such as Adobe Illustrator, allow automatic vectorization of pixel-based graphics. However, the professional program reached its limits with this city coat of arms. So it was up to our illustrator Alex to illustrate the source motif by tracing it piece by piece with paths and coloring it. A thorough job that paid off. Finally, the city coat of arms now exists in various file formats such as AI and EPS and can very easily be exported to for PNG, JPG and PDF - so the Reuterstadt is very well positioned for the next decades.
Advantage of vectorizing/digitizing coats of arms
The special advantage of vectorized coats of arms from us is that they are
- are true to detail and pin sharp
- are relatively small in data volume compared to pixel-based coats of arms
- are infinitely scalable without quality loss
- can also add gradients, shading, background patterns or other textural effects
- lost details can be made visible again
Thus, the city and family coats of arms digitized by us cut a very good figure both as small graphics on business cards and on 10 x 10 m banners or on letterhead, flags or websites - both in print and digital use.
Here is a zoom in to show that everything remains sharp even at high zoom levels:
On the creation and processing of heraldic coats of arms
The creation of heraldic coats of arms is a field of study that deals with the design and drafting of coats of arms. Heraldry is the science of heraldry and deals with the symbolism, rules and traditions related to coats of arms. We as an agency are not heraldists by nature, but by now we feel well versed in the subject.
Usually, each city has its own individual coat of arms, representing historical, cultural and symbolic elements. Elements such as colors, symbols or other features are used to indicate the history, geography or characteristics of the city. Usually, the coat of arms can convey information about the historical significance of the city, important events, or local features. Each element in the coat of arms has a symbolic meaning. For example, colors such as red, blue, green, gold and silver have certain symbolic connotations. Symbols such as lions, eagles, bulls, stars, or weapons can represent certain characteristics or traits. It is important to understand the symbolic meaning of the elements and use them according to the desired message of the coat of arms.
There are certain conventions that should be followed, such as the arrangement of the elements, the use of certain colors, or the consideration of historical traditions. It is important as a heraldic coat of arms agency to familiarize yourself with the heraldic rules in order to design and/or vectorize a correct and acceptable coat of arms.
Do you need digitization for your coat of arms?
If you too would like a vectorization of your coat of arms (club coat of arms, city coat of arms or family crests) or other heraldic motifs, please feel free to send us the graphics you have available (as a scan/photo/seal ring/wall plate). We will calculate our time and prepare an offer for you within a short time.
